The sensor mounts on the roof of the tank looking down. It emits high-frequency ultrasonic or radar pulses that travel through the air, bounce off the liquid surface, and return. The microprocessor measures time of flight, calculates the exact distance, and translates it into current volume in litres or percentage.
Ultrasonic is ideal for standard ambient water sumps and storage tanks up to 8m. However, for tanks with hot liquids, steam, surface foam, vacuum, dust, or tall silos up to 30m, our 80 GHz FMCW radar sensor is recommended because electromagnetic radar waves are unaffected by air temperature or vapor layers.
Yes. The controller includes potential-free relay outputs that wire directly into your pump starter panel. You can configure high and low thresholds (e.g. auto-start at 25% and auto-stop at 95%) or integrate wirelessly across distance with our PHMC pump controller.
